CESI in Madrid: Building the Higher Education of Tomorrow Together

To mark Europe Day on 9 May 2025, CESI participated in two significant European higher education events in Madrid. Stefan Seiler, Director of International Development, represented the institution. This strategic initiative demonstrates CESI’s dedication to participating in European academic networks and contributing to significant conversations that will influence the future of public and private higher education in Europe.
CIVICA Forum : Strengthening Synergies with Leading European Universities
The first highlight was participating in the Global Forum of the CIVICA alliance, which was held at IE University in Madrid. Coordinated by Sciences Po, CIVICA is a European alliance of social science universities that brings together nine top-tier institutions from across Europe. The event enabled CESI to strengthen its ties with IE University, fostering the development of academic partnerships and providing insights into the latest internationalisation policy trends. The conference brought together leading academics, including the European Commissioner for Youth, former Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta and Spain’s former Minister of Foreign Affairs.
This forum was a valuable opportunity to assert CESI’s European positioning, initiate new synergies, and deepen our thinking on major internationalisation challenges in higher education.
emphasised Stefan Seiler, Director of International Development.
EUPHE Conference : Rethinking the Transformation of Private Higher Education in Europe
Following the forum, CESI also took part in the annual conference of EUPHE (European Union of Private Higher Education). This network includes UGEI (Union of Independent Grandes Écoles) among its members and brings together key players in private higher education across Europe. Discussions focused on important topics such as developing a European learning space, transnational cooperation, dual degree programmes, European alliances and the impact of artificial intelligence on educational models.
The EUPHE conference enabled us to engage with other institutions pursuing similar goals. It supports our strategy, particularly regarding joint degrees and the digital transformation of education .
Stefan Seiler, Director of International Development.
By participating in both events, CESI was able to make its voice heard in influential forums while reaffirming its ambition to actively contribute to an inclusive, innovative, and interconnected European higher education system.
