A new dual-degree programme between CESI and HEC Montréal: A gateway to international entrepreneurship

CESI is strengthening its international reach and its commitment to entrepreneurship by launching a new dual-degree programme in partnership with HEC Montréal. Starting from the 2025 academic year, selected students, chosen for their academic excellence and the relevance of their professional project, will have the opportunity to complement their engineering studies with a DESS or an MBA at one of Canada’s most prestigious institutions.
A strategic alliance for future entrepreneurial engineers
This partnership is based on a key observation: many CESI engineering students, particularly those specialising in the “entrepreneurship” track, have a strong desire to start their own business or innovate through patents. According to Thierry Duval, International Relations Officer for the Western region, this dual expertise in both technical and managerial fields is a key added value.
We wanted to offer them a globally recognised additional qualification in an international context
HEC Montréal naturally emerged as the ideal partner, combining academic prestige with strong
connections to the North American business community. Students will thus benefit from immersion in a dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem, while having accessto high-level teaching, available in both French and English.
Two tailored pathways, depending on students’ profiles: DESS or MBA
The programme offers two options:
- The DESS in Management, available to students following the traditional track, who will spend a year in Montréal after completing their 10 semesters of studies at CESI.
- The MBA, which is reserved for students enrolled in work study programmes who have the professional experience required for this demanding course.
The number of places in each cohort is limited, ensuring personalised support and a highly selective admissions process. Applicants will need to demonstrate their motivation, the robustness of their career plans and strong academic and language skills.
A broader dynamic with Quebec
This programme is part of a broader strategy to develop partnerships in Quebec. CESI is set to renew or establish several agreements with renowned institutions such as UQAM, Concordia, ETS Montréal and Université Laval.
