During the summer of 2025, CESI organized three Summer Schools in Nice, Strasbourg, and Caen. These immersive programs brought together students from around the world with a common goal: to explore the potential of AI through a demanding academic experience, practical projects, and cultural discoveries.
Nice: Generative Artificial intelligence
July 7 to 18, 2025
In Nice, eight international students from Portugal, Pakistan, and Ghana, mainly studying computer science, immersed themselves in the world of artificial intelligence.
The program alternated between theoretical input and practical workshops, with the highlight being a group project on hand recognition applied to sign language. This project, praised for its inclusive nature, illustrated the potential impact of AI on society.
Participants also visited the Maison de l’Intelligence Artificielle (House of Artificial Intelligence), a showcase for emerging technologies, where they explored the current and future applications of AI across various sectors.
Beyond the academic aspect, this Summer School promoted rich intercultural exchanges, broadening the discussion on the global challenges of artificial intelligence.
Strasbourg: Smart Innovation
July 7 to 18, 2025
The Strasbourg campus hosted its first Summer School, dedicated to AI-enhanced innovation. Ten students from seven countries and five continents (the United States, Brazil, Colombia, Germany, Russia, Ghana, and Haiti) took part.
The program explored how AI can stimulate creativity, accelerate the development of new products, and transform ideation processes. In small groups, students experimented with rapid prototyping, user-centered design, and market analysis before presenting their projects to experts. This feedback helped them refine and enhance their proposals.
The experience was enriched by a cultural dimension, with visits to the European Parliament, a symbol of continental governance, and Landsberg Castle, a historical landmark. The Summer School concluded with an official certificate ceremony celebrating the participants’ achievements.
Caen: Smart Health Care & Artificial Intelligence
June 30 to July 11, 2025
In Caen, the first edition of the Summer School dedicated to AI applied to health brought together six international PhD students from Germany, Italy, Denmark, Ghana, and the Bahamas.
Organized in partnership with Caen University Hospital, the City of Caen, and several industry stakeholders, this program explored the links between medical research and digital technologies. Topics included cancer detection and treatment, the use of medical data, and the development of connected health solutions.
These lectures and workshops, also open to researchers and industry professionals, built a genuine bridge between academia and the medical sector. Participants also discovered the region’s heritage during a visit to Mont-Saint-Michel, which further strengthened group cohesion. Some students even secured internship opportunities in laboratories, underscoring the professional value of this initiative.
A commitment to the future
The Summer Schools in Nice, Strasbourg, and Caen highlighted the richness and complementarity of our school’s approaches: inclusive practice, collaborative innovation, and medical applications of AI.
By combining academic excellence, hands-on experimentation, and cultural immersion, these programs enabled students from diverse backgrounds to enjoy a unique experience that was both educational and meaningful.
With more than 25 students from 12 countries across five continents, the 2025 edition reflects our commitment to preparing the engineers and researchers of tomorrow for global challenges, making artificial intelligence a lever for responsible and sustainable innovation.
